Berry True Chocolate A visit to Lillie Belle Farms in Jacskonville, Oregon
Stepping inside, I’m immediately struck by what I see. I half-expect a messy warehouse floor, but instead there’s a simple but elegant dark, wooden bookshelf and round table. Glass jars of jam and small, square boxes filled with chocolates are carefully arranged on top, each with a beige label illustrated with a flower and the words “Lillie Belle Farms.” Just then the big guy with the long hair reappears from the office next door. I’m caught off guard when I notice he’s replaced his dark shades with a pair of regular glasses. A lot less menacing, he could now easily be mistaken for a history professor at the local community college. “This is our showcase room,” he explains, extending his arm out through the air. “We usually have more of our products on display, but we’ve been changing a few things around.” I pick up one of the boxes to examine it more closely. Catching the light from outside, the brightly colored chocolates and wrappers shine through the clear plastic lid. “These are beautiful chocolates,” I say. “Who designed the flower logo?” >>>
